Janet uses both traditional and contemporary techniques to create her glass pieces. Stained glass, which is made using centuries-old craftsmanship, is edged with lead or copper foil to create traditional windows, sidelights, and lampshades. Warm-glass items, such as jewellery, are formed by working with a kiln at temperatures between 1100 and 1700 degrees Fahrenheit. Janet usually begins the creative process by drawing a design, usually from a photograph. Janet's ability to design pieces from scratch has allowed her to create custom pieces for her clients. Portraits of horses in stained glass have become a specialty. In addition to creating custom pieces, Janet offers workshops in her studio. If you are interested in taking a workshop and learning about stained glass or warm glass techniques, please contact Janet by email.
